The Coldwell Banker® Commitment to Making a Difference

The tragic events of racial injustice committed against members of the African American community has left our Coldwell Banker® family heartbroken, as it has for many across the nation. These horrible acts not only warrant our mourning, but our action. Coldwell Banker® is proud to join in the fight against inequality, racism, and hate. Our mission is to actively promote and celebrate diversity.

One of the ways we strive to do this is with our Agents of Change Event. With this event, we not only celebrate diversity, but offer educational networking opportunities for our affiliated sales associates of all backgrounds. Coldwell Banker® also began Diversity in Ownership, which is a program committed to encouraging and facilitating successful and thriving brokerage ownership among Military, Minority, Women, and LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs of the real estate industry. This program was created in an effort to increase home ownership for underserved communities by increasing diversity and representation among brokerage owners. The hope is that, by doing so, these underserved communities will have increased access and understanding of the information and programs related to buying and owning a home.

We also continue to encourage and stress the importance of our agents participating in Fair Housing education initiatives through NAR®, like the At Home with Diversity® certification, and our Coldwell Banker® Fair Housing training program. Along with these educational tools, we encourage our REALTORS® to take the Fair Housing Pledge at https://fairhousingpledge.com/.

We remain diligent in our pursuit of the encouragement of diversity by looking to and abiding by the Realogy Diversity and Inclusion Council guidelines. Also, in an effort to provide resources and support within an inclusive culture, we utilize the African American and Caribbean Employee Resources Group. By consistently consulting with these resources, we continue to better ourselves. As long as there is the willingness to learn, there is the potential for growth.

The African American community is the most underserved in real estate, whether in home ownership, real estate licensure, or brokerage ownership. This being the case, it is our responsibility to help make changes. In light of the recent tragedies that have taken place, what was already an important mission has now increased in urgency. We are thankful for our employees and agents who join us in this effort.

With empathy and respect, and with our ears, minds, and hearts open, we have the ability to make a powerful impact together.
