Dear Friends:
I am writing for a very special cause - SAMMinistries. Founded in 1983 by a group of downtown churches, SAMMinistries is an interfaith ministry and the largest provider of homeless services in San Antonio. The ministry assists an average of 500 individuals, including 200 children, every day of the year with emergency and transitional shelter as well as an after-care program.

Last year, the agency cared for more than 5,000 individuals and provided more than 152,000 bed nights of shelter and services to the area's homeless men, women and children. In March 2004, SAMMinistries opened Furniture for a Cause. Furniture for a Cause sells new and donated home and office furniture to the general public. Donations of gently used furniture are always needed. The proceeds help provide for the Ministry's services to the homeless.

On October 6, 2008, AT&T and Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors® are sponsoring the 4th annual golf tournament at The Palmer Course at La Cantera with the proceeds benefiting SAMMinistries. We hope you will join us as a player or as a sponsor.

Your support will help SAMMinistries to continue with the following services:

TRANSITIONS PROGRAM

SAMMinistries on Commerce: Provides individuals and families stabilization, referral and assistance for up to 90 days.

SAMMinistries on Blanco: Provides transitional living, life skills training and support (capacity of 40 families).

SAMMinistries Transitional Housing: 25 houses available for rent to families progressing toward self-sufficiency, in a two-year program under the guidance of a caseworker.

EMERGENCY SHELTER

SAMMinistries on Commerce offers individuals and families emergency shelter, services and referrals.
